This young athlete maintains impressive online following

The young golfer will have multiple prominent supporters as she begins her LPGA debut on Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who is connected to a former US president, obtained a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Annika competition in Florida.

Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, possesses several golf courses and often competes against Kai.

"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we have some close matches," she mentioned.

The golfer shared that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Simply stay calm."

"My grandpa basically advised me to go out there and have fun," she explained.

"To me, he's just a regular grandfather. He can't make it this weekend. He's busy with world affairs, so he's quite busy."

While still amateur, the golfer has played in just three tournaments recently and has position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.

Yet she's able to seek guidance from golf legend, in a relationship with Kai's mother.

"He is the top athlete worldwide," Kai stated.

"Furthermore, he's an even better person. He suggested me to compete, relax, following the flow."

She'll challenge some of most prominent players in the sport at this tournament, including world number two Nelly Korda, British Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.

The LPGA commented that Kai's presence brings the sport to new audiences, specifically among the next generation.

Kai has millions of followers and recently launched an exclusive fashion and living label.

She begins at 17:30 GMT.
