Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the deaths, public individuals shared varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and suggested they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide should have intervened when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
